Scope of the Project

According to the city of West Allis, W. Mitchell St. from S. 56th to S. 60th is one of the streets that will have “concrete reconstruction of and private side lead water service lateral replacement” performed on them this year.  The work being done has caused a challenge for visitors to find parking on the streets and to access our parking lot and church building.  Continue reading for an update on the project, instructions for how to best access our church, and pictures of the construction progress.

Update

September 6

  • Mitchell St. is closed to ALL traffic at this time  (from 56th - 60th streets).
  • Parking along Mitchell St. is also restricted at this time  (from 56th - 60th streets).
  • You may walk on the sidewalks along Mitchell St., but please note that some of them are uneven and may cause some difficulty and present a safety hazard to some pedestrians.
  • The ramp leading to the main entrance of the church is still accessible, but the uneven portions of the sidewalk adjacent to it may cause some difficulty and present a safety hazard to those using it.
  • S. 57th St. is closed to thru traffic  (from Lapham St. to Mitchell St.).  However, you are permitted to drive down 57th St. and park on the street.
  • Parking
    • The best way to access the church parking lot (located just west of the church) is to drive down the alley from Lapham St. to the north.  If you do this, please drive slow for the safety of our neighbors and be prepared to move to the side if any motorists are driving in the opposite direction.
    • If you park on 57th St. (north of Mitchell St.), you can access the church by walking on the sidewalk in between the parsonage and the church and entering through the back door on the northwest corner of the church.
