"Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it."
Christian Education at Nain
Children are a blessing from the Lord, and he has given us the privilege to feed his lambs. The primary responsibility of nurturing a child's spiritual life falls upon parents, who are commanded by God to proclaim his Word in their households. God also allows the Church to assist in that process. Our congregation offers many opportunities to teach the youth of our congregation and community the teachings of Christ. We also offer opportunities for further education in God's Word well beyond childhood.
Sunday School takes place in the church basement every Sunday morning during the school year at 8:45. All children age 4 through 6th grade are welcome to attend as we review the stories of the Bible to see God's great love for us in Christ Jesus.
Sunday Bible Study
Sunday morning Bible-Study takes place every Sunday morning during the school year at 9:00 am in the church sanctuary. Throughout the year, we turn to the teachings of God's Word and discuss various topics. We welcome all to attend this study of God's Word.
During the summer (Sunday after Memorial Day - the Sunday before Labor Day), we hold our education hour in the church sanctuary after the worship service (around 10:15am). This opportunity for devotion and study lasts around 30 minutes. We welcome all ages to join us in this study of God's Word.
Tuesday Bible Study
We hold a Bible study on Tuesday evenings three times a year: one during the Epiphany season, one during the Easter season; and another during September & October. Each Tuesday evening study covers a different topic, and is open to all who wish to attend. Please check back to this site to learn of the current topic, and feel free to speak with Pastor Berg if you have any more questions or suggestions.
We instruct the youth of our congregation in the teachings of God's Word, as explained in Martin Luther's Small Catechism. We meet on Tuesday afternoons at 4:00 pm, from September through May. Catechism instruction is typically for the seventh and eight graders of our congregation, although older students are welcome. We require two years of study in the Catechism before the students can be confirmed and join our communicant fellowship at the Lord's Supper. Please speak with Pastor Berg if you have any questions.
Bible Information Classes
We offer these sessions at various times throughout the year. These classes are free and are open to anyone, and we encourage those who want to learn more about our teachings and are interested in joining our church to attend. Please contact us for times and dates or if you have any other questions.
